Spring District VII Meeting!

TO: District VII Officers, Chairmen, AFWC Officers, Club Presidents and Club Members

Time: 8:30 to 10:00 AM Registration and breakfast snacks.

9:00 AM District VII Board meeting for District VII Board Members.

10:00 AM District VII General Session, Lunch, Program and District Award time!

Theme: "Spring into Better Health!"

Hosted by GFWC Gulf Shores Woman's Club, Inc.

Place: Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 616 Fort Morgan Road, Gulf Shores, AL

Directions to HSEC:

Heading south on Alabama Highway 59, drive over the Intercoastal Waterway Bridge into the City of Gulf Shores.

Continue on Hwy 59 until the intersection of 59 and AL Highway 180. Highway 180 is also known as Fort Morgan Road.

Go right on 180 and travel 1.1 miles.

Holy Spirit Church will be on the right side of Highway 180.

Guest Speaker: Jo Godfrey, Direcor of of Mary's Shelter in Elberta, AL


Mary's Shelter is a two-year residential home for the area's unwed mothers and their children.

The shelter teaches needed life skills, encourages Christian living, and attaining a higher education level to financailly support theses women and their families.


As thanks to Ms. Godfrey for speaking at our meeting, we are asking attendees bring either a package of disposable diapers (any size) or a package of wet wipes, thank you!

District Yearbook Winners Announced!

Congratulations to three clubs for their outstanding club yearbook entries in the District VII Fall meeting!

Membership Category A: GFWC P.I.N.E.S. Woman's Club of Washington County. "People Involved in Endless Service"
Membership Category D: Cosmopolitan Club of Mobile County
Membership Category E: GFWC Gulf Shores Woman's Club, Inc.

All Alabama woman's clubs have until December 31 to enter their club yearbook into the University of Alabama's Yearbook Scholarship Contest in which four scholarships will be awarded to a student of the winnings club choice who will be attending the University of Alabama. Further details and mailing address for your yearbook is located in your Alabama Federation of Women's Clubs 2006~2008 yearbook.

October District News and Contests!

Announcing a District VII Director's membership program called "Everyone Brings One" encouraging every club member in our District to bring a guest to her club meeting in during the months of October, November and December 2006.

The three clubs reporting the highest percentage of guests to paid membership over the next three months wins $35.00! We need everyone's help in building our membership!

The winning clubs can spend their prize money according to what is best for their own club! For example: a new membership social or seed money for a new project.

This is another great benefit of being a Federated Club Woman: Support in the areas of greatest need!

Every club President has been given a "Everyone Brings One" tally form in her District VII yearbook to send in by February 1st, 2007. Questions?? Please ask, we are here to help you!

Winners will be announced at the March 24, 2007 Spring District VII meeting in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
